A NOTE FROM OUR FOUNDER

It was not a eureka moment, the idea of 42foundry actually started on a date with my boyfriend (now fiancé). We were on a lunch date when he sweetly offered his SPF lip balm to me. I said no because I had an elaborate lip combo on.

I chose pretty over protection, and that small moment of compromise stuck with me.

So, I went on a shopping spree to find a good Lip SPF (something with good texture, protection claims I could trust, no strange taste, and something that actually looks pretty - that I could wear anywhere and everywhere). Couldn't find anything even close to what I was looking for. And that’s when I turned to a lab, adamant on finding a solution.

Somewhere along this journey I realised India didn’t really have trustworthy sun protection options that feel good, are suited for re-application or even tested properly for the sun protection claims. We are talking about a country that has sun all year long and an average UV index of 8-10. And the ones who do wear SPF regularly aren't doing it because they love it. They are doing it because the alternative is worse. I am one of them.

So, I set out to do something simple: make SPF part of the routine, not an addition to it. Products you're already reaching for, with protection built-in.
18 months later, 42foundry was born at the intersection of existing problems and my passion for sun protection, with our first product, Silk Lip Glaze.
